– Kathleen Albertson, L. Ac., PhD is no stranger to acupuncture critics, but a recent research university report which claims that acupuncture is a mind-over-matter treatment that is nothing but a sham has the acupuncturist and author defending her profession. A reporter with The Orange County Register recently interviewed Dr. Albertson to ask her what she thought about the university studies claims.

The reporter, Jane Glenn Haas, asked her if she felt the studies were accurate. when she stated, “You say that recent articles reporting acupuncture is nothing but a sham, a mind-over-matter treatment, are not accurate, even though they boast test studies done at various universities.” Dr. Albertson, known for her positive outlook followed up by stating, “Positive thinking does make a difference. Energy flows through. This could be “chi,” empathy, hope or helpfulness. In my opinion, it does influence a person’s feelings. The brain works in ways we cannot comprehend fully in scientific terms. I stand by acupuncture mediating pain receptors.”

The full-length interview of Dr. Kathleen Albertson was published on August 31, 2010 and also asked about her personal experiences as an acupuncturist, her Chinese Acupuncture education, and the recent publication of her book “Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women’s Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine.” Since women’s health is a focus of Dr. Albertson’s acupuncture practice in Irvine, California, Ms. Haas naturally questioned the use of acupuncture as a treatment for fertility to which Dr. Albertson replied “Many women have come to me who are in their late 30s. They are spending as much as $20,000 for each in-vitro treatment. They are desperate. They would stand on their head if a doctor told them to. These are professional women who used long-term birth control.”

“Integrating Western and Eastern care improves patient outcomes.” Dr. Albertson plans to publish a book about men’s health in the coming year. Her success as an acupuncturist has garnered her attention of many alternative medicine radio broadcasts, journalists and bloggers. She has studied both here in the US and in China. She holds her PhD in Holistic Nutrition.

“A” in Greek is the word for “negative,” “men” is the word for “month” and “rhea” refers to “flow.” Amenorrhea means “no menstrual flow” (absence of menstruation). In Chinese medicine, it refers to “no moon.”

Rudyard Kipling said, “East is east and West is west and never the twain shall meet.”
Today it is more important than ever to understand TCM (Traditional Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture and herbal medicine) as well as Western medicine. Today’s reality integrates these two schools of thought to improve patient care. TCM gets to the root cause naturally with out the harsh affects of drugs.

We know that gynecology in China goes back as far as the early 1500 BC. Gynecologists were called “breast doctors” who treated diseases “under the skirt.”
By taking advantage of this ancient, successful medicine, we resolve many gynecological health problems at its source, earlier in the woman’s reproductive life, and perhaps bearing her from a lifetime of medications, infertility, or lack of hope.

For most women TCM is not sought as the first line of medical resolution. They seek out acupuncture and herbal medicine when all else fails; when they are the middle of fertility procedures, or when someone recommends TCM to them. We owe it to the women in our lives to recommend TCM for this condition. It is normal for menstruation to cease during pregnancy and breast-feeding. So, unless it is a structural or congenital health problem TCM provides solutions and restores your health.

Failure to menstruate may cause the uterine lining to thicken putting you at risk for cancers.

Definitions

Primary amenorrhea A young woman has reached the age of 16 (in some texts 18) and has not begun menstruating.
Oligomenorrhea or secondary amenorrhea A woman who has started menses but has missed menstrual cycles for three consecutive months.

Secondary amenorrhea often occurs with extreme exercise such as long-distance running. Typically, leaner women have higher levels of protein which affect estrogen; therefore, less free estrogen is available to stimulate the reproductive cycle properly. Other specific causes include stress, nutritional inadequacies, hormonal imbalances, tumors, intrauterine infection, endometriosis, discontinuation of oral contraceptives, diseases such as diabetes mellitus or tuberculosis, anorexia nervosa, or obesity.
In hypergonadotropin amenorrhea, high gonadotropin ─ any of several hormones that stimulate the growth and activity of the gonads, especially follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) ─ and low estrogen levels create symptoms similar to those of menopause: atrophy of the reproductive organs, hot flashes, irritability and other changes. The patient may experience internal sensations of heat, thirst, irritability, low back pain, vaginal dryness or dryness of the eyes. This type is affiliated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or premature ovarian failure (POF).

TCM looks to:
• overwork,
• emotional and physical stress,
• poor diet,
• or constitutional weakness

that creates deficiencies of Qi, Blood, Essence or Liver Blood. The Blood “fails to arrive” (menstruation) and becomes stagnant. Emotional stress, excessive physical work or overwork, poor nutritional choices, anger, sadness, anxiety and worry in today’s busy world are common culprits leading to these disorders. Many women feel that they have busy lives, but handle the stress well. Many don’t realize the imbalance this causes, many are reluctant to admit it, and many don’t perceive it as a disorder.

Other symptoms may include menses that stops after several months with decreasing volume of blood. Fatigue, anxiety or depression, or insomnia are also common symptoms.

Some women may experience:
• Poor appetite.
• Bloating.
• Loose stools.
• Constipation.

A woman may either express cold hands and feet, or heat sensations at night. Other women may experience secondary amenorrhea with the cycle lengthening gradually developing to amenorrhea accompanied by foggy thinking, obesity, or excessive vaginal discharge.
These are imbalances that all can be treated with TCM. Your practitioner will determine which organ systems are the cause of your problems and create a treatment protocol specifically for you.
TCM is underutilized and under valued as a primary resource for resolving your health problems. Educate yourself, your mother, sisters, daughters, and friends on the true importance of achieving optimum health naturally. This includes TCM. Integration of Western and Eastern medicine fosters the best medical care.

Dr. Albertson is the author of “Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women’s Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine.” In private practice for over 15 years, she is available for interviews, consultation and speaking engagements. Whooping cough (pertussis) is an opportunistic infection that affects the lungs. Outbreaks occur every three to four years and are seriously affect children.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are effective and safe treatment to provide full recovery for your little one. Yes, the acupuncture is gentle! Integrating Western and Eastern medicine is the ideal protocol for pertussis. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) views pertussis as also caused from poor diets, irregular feeding, damp climates, overuse of antibiotics, as well as bacterial infection. TCM protocols have been used for 5000 years and offer gentle, effective solutions for your child.
First Stage Symptoms (10-20 days):
• Cough leading to wheezing with coughing of bubbly sputum.
• Copious nasal discharge.
Second Stage (40-60 days):
• Convulsive coughing, followed by croup; better in the daytime, worse at night.
Third stage: Recovery (20-30 days):
• Reduced and weak cough, little or sputum.
• Body is weak and tired.
• Cold hands and feet.
• Spontaneous sweating.
• Poor appetite or choosy about food.
• Distended abdomen.
• Watery stools.
• Copious, pale urine.
• Child may present with hot feet and hands, dry cough, night sweats, and irritability, but it is less common.
TCM offers more holistic, natural and safer treatment. Harsh drugs have long-term effects on the liver and kidneys. Repeatedly placing your child on western medicine can be problematic to their overall state of GOOD health.
TCM offers safe antibacterial, antiviral herbs. An herbal formula, made specifically and comprehensively for your child is made addressing multiple symptoms safely.
TCM reduces cough and sputum, nourishes the lungs, returns body fluids to normal levels, and rebuild and support your child’s immune system. IT is reassuring to know you have options available and TCM is here for you and your family.
Explore this option for more optimum health.
TCM resolves pertussis and your child can recover more quickly. Western medicine provides antibiotic relief, and reduces the side effects of the cough and sputum, while TCM seeks to dissolves the mucus, restores the lungs; returning the body back to homeostasis (balance/optimum health). TCM resolves the root cause.

Acupuncture is clinically proven to accelerate the healing of sports injuries. Integrating Western and Eastern treatment makes the most sense and can fully restore chronic and acute injuries in many cases. You often heal quickly, fully, and with improved performance.

Acupuncture is commonly used for:

  1. Acute strains/spasms and sprains- an acute injury is often a sprain or strain. Sprains involve the ligaments and strains involve muscles or tendons. Besides pain, the typical inflammatory response may include swelling of the injured area, redness, purple skin discoloration, or reduced range of motion of the joint. Prolonged inflammation can cause scar tissue formation and may prevent you from re-gaining proper joint mobility. Spasms are extreme tightening of the muscles…ouch!

 2.  Chronic pain/pain management- All too often, a patient accepts his/her level of immobility and function. This causes depression. You can improve the quality of your life through acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture relieves and often eliminates many aches and pains.

 3.  Strengthening and restoring the body from injuries: Are you using Tylenol or Advil daily for pain? – Not good in the long run! Most pain-relief and anti-inflammatory medications provide excellent short-term pain-relief by blocking the production of pain-causing substances. They reduce pain by increasing circulation and decreasing your body’s sensitivity to it. However, this process decreases the blood supply to the muscles and joints, creating other muscular, ligament, and joint problems in the long-term, preventing true recovery. Tight muscles with poor circulation are fatigued easily and are more prone to injury. Long term stress on the body is a problem that causes more degeneration, and it is harsh on your liver and kidneys. Acupuncture and natural herbal formulas get to the bottom of the problem, and are safer for you.

 4.  Arthritis/joint conditions- interfere with daily activities. Arthritis is an autoimmune disease, but often occurs with chronic or repetitive injuries. Due to the pain and stiffness, you may have trouble exercising, getting out of bed, writing, sewing, buttoning clothes, dressing, walking, or climbing stairs. Often some days are better than others, and the severity of symptoms can change from day-to-day. Sometimes living with the loss of function and movement is more difficult than the pain of arthritis. Seek alternative treatment. All ages benefit.

 5.  Sports performance enhancement- acupuncture strengthens body function and restores internal harmony and balance, allowing your body to work more optimally with less stress. Improved blood flow and circulation permits you to work harder with less wear and tear on your joints, muscles and ligaments. It is a mental and physical balancing.

6. Back/Sciatica/ Neck/shoulder pain. Acupuncture is very effective solution when treating most neck and back problems. Neck, shoulder and back muscle tension and stiffness are very common with a work out gone wrong, or from just over sitting at your desk everyday. Talking on the phone or sitting in front of a computer for prolonged periods of time causes a lack of circulation in the tissue and fatigues the muscles involved. Injuries to these areas whether acute or chronic, should be addressed by acupuncture for full recovery.

7.  Disk bulges/Degenerative disk disease. I recommend seeking treatment prior to surgery.  Acupuncture reduces pain and  to reduce the inflammation.

 8. General soft tissue recovery, either acute or chronic.

 9. Neuropathy/Neuralgia. Nerve pain is annoying. It often moves around. It can be sharp and drilling –like or it can give you a feeling of numbness or “pins and needles.”

 10.  Knee, elbow, ankle injuries ACL? Meniscus tears? or strains? Yes… treatable. If you have a knee condition that is bone on bone, acupuncture will not work, but if there is any cartilage there, acupuncture is often effective reducing swelling, improving mobility, and strengthening the ligaments and tendons.

11. Hamstring, Achilles, bicep tears.

 12.  Shoulder injuries, bursitis, “frozen shoulder,”  rotator cuffs, or scapula problems- benefit from treatment.

 13Bursitis/Tendonitis.

 14.  Pre and post surgery preparation and recovery Acupuncture helps prep your body for surgery and helps you recover more quickly. Returning to “normal” faster, it is what we all want to achieve.

So How does it work?

Acupuncture enhances blood circulation, especially in the area that there is pain or discomfort. This desired action can be achieved by regulating the autonomic nervous system (which is responsible for internal organ system functioning, regulation of blood circulation, and production of relaxation effects. When circulation in the tissue improves, muscle relaxation occurs, and immediate pain reduction follows in many cases.

Proper circulation in the tissue is important not only for blood to nourish the tissue but also in enhancing the elimination of muscle fatigue and pain-causing substances (e.g., lactic acid) thus resulting in healthy tissues. Physically and mentally you can feel better.

Uterine prolapse is falling or sliding of the uterus from its normal position in the pelvic cavity into the vaginal canal. The risk of uterine prolapse increases with age as pelvic muscles weaken, and due to the natural reduction in estrogen(less elasticity) at menopause.  Approximately half of all women older than 50 years complain of symptomatic prolapse, and studies estimate that 50% of women who have given birth more than one time have some degree of urogenital prolapse. This problem is prevalent, yet not one that women generally discuss due to embarrassment.

Heavy lifting, or standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time may worsen this condition. Chronic cough, obesity, and chronic constipation increase the pressure on the pelvic floor and may also contribute, and although rare, uterine prolapse can also be caused by a pelvic tumor.

Traditional Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine helps!

How TCM works

The TCM concepts of the organ systems have different and broader definitions when compared to Western medicine. “Qi” in TCM reflects your energy or vitality and TCM defines prolapse as “sinking Qi.” Deficiencies in the Spleen and Kidney systems are root causes of prolapse in TCM. Acupuncture points open up the organ system pathways so Qi and blood flow abundantly throughout our body.  This flow of Qi and blood nourishes and supports the organ systems to overcome deficiencies like prolapse. Using acupuncture points on the top of your head, in a sense, “pulls up” the prolapsed organ.  Acupuncture pathways traverse laterally and longitudinally through out the body. These interconnections and networks on the head promote Qi and flow upward.  This is oversimplifying it, but an acupuncture needle on the top of your head does draws that qi and energy upwards towards the head…much like a magnet.

By raising Qi, a “sunken” organ is lifted.  Additionally we use body points and often herbs to increase the effect. One herbal formula, called “Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang, means “Raise the Qi Formula,” which improves the lack of tone of the skeletal and smooth muscles, and supportive tissues, and move Qi upward. It is also is also used to elevate your mood, increase brain clarity (brain fog) and your raise your spirits.

TCM practitioners review your medical history, your signs and symptoms and conduct a pulse and tongue diagnosis. They identify a pattern for your disease and select an appropriate acupuncture treatment protocol for you. This specific type of care results in a higher percentage of success.

Every patient is treated uniquely. Herbal formulas are made specifically for your pattern of disease and often accelerate your rate of healing.

While western medicine offers surgery for prolapse, TCM works more naturally.

Symptoms of prolapse include:

  • A feeling as if sitting on a small ball or a “bearing down” sensation.
  • Difficult or painful sexual intercourse.
  • Frequent urination or a sudden, urgent need to empty the bladder.
  • Low backache.
  • Protruding of the uterus and cervix through the vaginal opening.
  • Repeated bladder infections.
  • Vaginal bleeding or increased vaginal discharge.

Prolapse maybe accompanied by mental depression, fatigue, lethargy, general weakness, or diarrhea.  It often occurs after childbirth, illness or surgery.

If you are experiencing any signs or symptoms of prolapse seek TCM treatment. Early detection and treatment can reverse it and prevent surgery in many cases. Every case is different, yet a more natural, holistic treatment can benefit you and improve your quality of life.

Bridging the gap between Western and Eastern medicine improves patient care.

Kathie is the author of “Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women’s Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine.” In private practice for over 15 years, she is available for interviews, consultation and speaking engagements. Irvine, CA. Dr. Albertson holds a PhD in Holistic Nutrition as well as state and national licenses in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal Medicine.

Western medicine not working for you?..

Or are you frustrated with your level of care?

Concerned about the damaging effects of western drugs?

Don’t know much about what Chinese Herbal medicine is—or how it works–

Or if is it right for you?…. I can help you better understand how effective they are.

Wouldn’t you like a more natural alternative that treats your root problems and not just symptoms?.. without side effects?

Patients seek herbal treatments because Western medicine continues to treat only their symptoms and does not resolve their root issues.

They find that they are given one medication after another and that no one really takes the time to understand the true and whole nature of their problems.

Many patients are sensitive to Western drugs and treatments and no one seems to listen to the fact that medications don’t agree with some patients. You might be one of those sensitive people – unique, different, sensitive, but Western medicine as we know it offers you few if any alternatives. This can be frustrating and depressing when you are trying desperately to get well.

Some patients seek to move away from pharmaceuticals and Western medications because they are wary of the side effects. They also prefer a more natural alternative and gentle approach to bring them back to optimum health. I have treated other patients who come to my office using Chinese Herbal medicine (CHM) as an adjunct to their Western treatments.

But does it work?

What to Expect From Your Consultation and Treatment Program

Your herb dosage is based on your signs, symptoms, and digestive sensitivity, among other important factors. I ask you to start with a small dose to make sure it agrees with your system. Side effects of taking too much herbs reflect in digestive issues like bloating, or diarrhea.

When a patient is already prone to this, I use herbs to counter and balance their systems so that their weaknesses are considered and addressed. Specific herbal instructions are given to you.

Why Chinese Herbs?

  1. Chinese herbal medicine is well documented in its vast ability to treat the root cause. For 5000 years it has been used effectively without the damaging side effects offered by Western pharmaceuticals.
  2. The “collateral damage” as I call it, from western drugs should cause concern! Cognitive impairment, elevated liver enzymes, and serious damage to our liver and kidneys, is the price many pay for using western meds to solve health issues. Yes we need western meds, but do we need so much of it?? Can’t we find more natural sources? Can we do without so much of it? Many patients have drug reactions because the drugs are too strong for them. Others experience drug interactions which can be lethal. And still others find may find no relief in what they have been prescribed.

So why not Chinese herbs? Side effect may be diarrhea!! That is a minimum side effect that is easily remedied with a change in dosage. Most patients find their formula works for them and f you are given the proper herbal formula you too will have positive results.

3. If Western doctors sold shoes, everyone would wear the same size. With Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) everyone has a different size available to them! Western medicine is compartmentalized and masks symptom. We don’t want that…we want resolution and restoration. Your condition is unique and your herbal formula reflects it.

Chinese herbs work synergistically in formulas made precisely and specifically for your unique condition. Western medicine offers standardized, compartmentalized approaches with4.out consideration of your particular difference.

Chinese Herbal medicine (CHM) is an herbal formula prepared for each individual patient based on your pattern of disease. Single herbs rarely resolve health problems. The best success occurs when the herbal prescription is uniquely prepared and based on a proper diagnosis. Every patient is unique so no one herbal formula is the same. I achieve excellent results by taking time to prepare the correct formula patient by patient.

  1. A holistic approach allows me to balance all of your body systems and address emotional components as well. The body, mind and spirit need congruence, an assemblage, an integration, to work together on your behalf to resolve your health problems. Many layers of health problems and concerns are treated simultaneously. All can be addressed with CHM and CHM works supportively, gently and safely.

“I suffered from irregular menstrual cycles ranging anywhere from 35-48 days. My western diagnosis was PCOS. My period came with

severe cramping and a moderate flow lasting 3 days. I was 31, had

always experienced irregular cycles and always had trouble with

weight gain even though I ate well. I had premenstrual headaches

and oft en suffered from stuff y sinuses. My western doctor started

me on Metformin to control my blood sugar. After four IUIs and

one IVF, I decided to try CHM. Kathie prepared an herbal

formula for me to help ovulation and to promote blood flow, within 2

months my cycle started coming sooner, on day 34

the first month, day 32 the second month, day

30 the third month. My PMS headaches

subsided on month 4. Within 8 months,

my cycle came consistently on days 28-29.

I am now 4 months pregnant and doing

well! PCOS can be addressed with

Chinese herbal medicine!” Susan

ACUPUNCTURE AND HERBAL MEDICINE TO THE RESCUE!

Incidence of male factor (30%) is rising and improvements in raising sperm count, motility, and changing morphology are notable with the use of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

Acupuncture is a very gentle, comfortable, and relaxing treatment. Acupuncture connects the organs, and all of your systems (endocrine, reproductive, blood, nervous, lymph, etc.) with the brain so that it functions in balance.

The incidence of sperm defects is approximately 25% in white-collar workers and over 50% in blue-collar workers.

Factors including stress, nutrition and diet, lifestyle, lack of rest, and environmental toxins are also considered more seriously than ever before.

Normal sperm analysis - includes volume of at least one ml:

  • Count – more than 20 million per ml;
  • Motility – more than 50% moving purposefully; and
  • Form - less than 50% abnormal.

Where are the needles placed?

Tiny, thin hair-like needles are placed in specific points on the body.

Acupuncture points for male factor are placed in the area of the low back, often with low frequency stimulation. Areas around the stomach, legs, hands and ankles are also used. Acupuncture works systematically improving blood flow to all parts of the body so it is not necessary to treat the genital area.

Acupuncture & Herbal Research

Lab test improvements in sperm count, motility and morphology have been demonstrated through clinical research. One study is summarized below. Contact us if you would like to know about more studies.

Acupuncture Improves Sperm Motility, Count  & Morphology

  • 32 Sub fertile men with sperm impairment.
  • 16 Given 10 Acupuncture treatment, 16 no treatment.

Significant improvements (p<0.05) in acupuncture group compared to control group:

– Increased number of motile sperm.

– Increased number of sperm with intact tails.

– Increased % of viable sperm.

More Benefits of Acupuncture:

  • A gentle holistic approach to resolving your health problems.
  • Reduces stress.
  • Treats the root of disease – not just the symptoms.
  • Can improve and maximize health.
  • Often used for preventive treatments and early detection of the body’s imbalances.
  • Little or no side effects.
  • Promotes blood flow and circulation.
  • Increases energy, stamina, endurance.
  • Promotes a sense of well-being.
  • Can simultaneously treat other health issues like orthopedic pain, sports injuries, digestion problems, insomnia, sinuses or allergies, headaches, etc.

TCM offers individualized protocols, patients generally respond well. I am here to help. Let me know if you have any questions. Dr. Kathleen Albertson, L. She is the author of “Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women’s Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine.”

Did you know that fatigue slowly expresses itself–creeping into every bone in your body? Did you know that it crawls deeper and deeper deteriorating all of your key organ systems? Fatigue has an uncanny way of starting out as an occasional situation that we assume will go away. Often, it doesn’t. We do not slow down and get the rest we need—we merely push ourselves harder. At what expense? What damage does this cause?

The progression of fatigue has a domino effect creating more symptoms. This makes you more imbalanced and diseased. Here are some warning signs. If you have these issues, please address them. These symptoms can be reversed using TCM (traditional Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture and herbal medicine).

  1. Muscle aches and pain-Neck, shoulder, low back pains are signs that the body is tired. This turns into spasms, headaches, or inflammation which makes you irritable. Your good energy is going to waste. It is being used up if the body is trying to re-balance or adjust to this constant tension, Seek treatment for these little annoyances before they fester, resulting in larger health problems.

Acupuncture s very effective for promoting blood flow to the muscles, nerves and ligaments keeping them supple and flexible. It reduces physical and emotional stress, and infuses your immune system. Acupuncture increases blood flow so you feel fresh, alert, and sharp. If you have trouble sleeping, acupuncture and herbs also treat insomnia.

  1. Digestive distress: Fatigue progresses and upsets your digestive function.

Do you experience acid reflux, constipation or diarrhea due to stress or fatigue?

Stage two means that your body has weakened, affecting more organs systems. Good digestion is necessary to transmute food into nutrition. If your stomach and small intestine are not functioning well, malabsorbtion occurs. Your nutrients are not being used to support and strengthen your system. This causes your disorder to go deeper into your body.

  1.  Pelvic, reproductive, or urinary dysfunctions follow as stage three. Fatigue continues to stress the deeper organs. Men and women alike may experience reproductive or fertility disorders. The normal menstrual cycle, urinary flow, incontinence, infections or kidney stones can originate from fatigue. Most patients don’t see the connection with this, and stage one or two. TCM correlates the imbalances of Qi (energy, vitality) with the progression of disease. These can be reversed with TCM treatment of the root cause. Medications often mask the symptoms rather than restore you. Medications also become problematic for the body to assimilate safely. Herbs may be a more natural way to approach health.
  2. Cardiac stress: Stage four can includes anxiety, palpitations, brain fog, depression, or chronic insomnia, to more severe problems including, chest pressure or cardiac arrest. Fatigue is a silent killer and left untreated causes unnecessary physical and emotional stress. This combination is responsible for much of the chronic illness we see today. Poor nutrition and excessive lifestyles, added to this mix, are a recipe for a broad spectrum of disease. Disease that can be avoided.

Proper attention to how your body feels is the first step in keeping healthy. Those little aches and pains are stage one warning lights that you should act on. Your first wealth is your health. If you take better care of yourself you can take better care of your family and enjoy the quality of life you so deserve.

TCM helps resolve fatigue, regarding of the stage you are experiencing. Don’t wait.

Want to totally improve your weight loss efforts? Add Acupuncture!

1. Acupuncture balances the endocrine system (thyroid, adrenals, and metabolism!).
2. It assists the liver and kidneys so they better process toxins.
3. It helps the pancreas function better and can help insulin, cortisol and brain chemistry.
4. It reduces stress on your system and if your system is functioning better… you have more energy devoted to metabolism and detoxification.
5. You metabolize better and faster!

Obesity affects almost 93 million Americans! That number is expected to reach 120 million within the next five years. 20 million people in the U.S. have type 2 diabetes and an additional 20 million have impaired glucose tolerance (pre-diabetes), which is a strong risk factor for developing diabetes later in life.
An estimated 70 percent of diabetes risk in the U.S. can be attributed to excess weight. The related health problems aren’t worth it!!! Lets add heart attack, stroke, cancer, high cholesterol-(65 million Americans have it), hypertension, lack of energy, gall bladder disease, depression, and loss of self esteem to the pile of troubles that often occur with weight gain.

Recent studies suggest that those diagnosed as morbidly obese had death rates from cancer that were 52 percent higher for men and 62 percent higher for women, as compared to rates for normal-weight men and women. In both men and women, higher BMI (body mass indexes) are associated with higher death rates from cancers of the esophagus, colon and rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and kidney. The same trend applies to cancers of the stomach and prostate in men, and cancers of the breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries in women.
